Cockington Village
Cockington Village.

Visitors are transported into the past! Narrow winding lanes open out onto beautiful thatched cottages, old English gardens and thatched gift shops. These sell locally produced crafts and Devonshire Cream Teas. On the edge of the woods is the famous Gamekeeper's Cottage dating back to the 16th century. The Olde Forge in the middle of the village dates back to the 14th century. There is also 450 acres of parkland, woodland and lakes to explore.

Paignton Steam Railway
Paignton Steam Railway.

For a wonderful day out take the steam railway from Paignton to Kingswear. It's a beautiful scenic ride along the coast on a railway built by Brunel passing over a wonderful viaduct. From Kingswear it's a 5 minute ferry crossing to Dartmouth - worth spending a few hours wandering around it's old shops and waterfront before boarding another boat for a cruise up the River Dart to the ancient town of Totnes. On the river there are many sites of interest including Sharphams Vineyard and the house where Agatha Christie used to live. Spend a while wandering around the shops in the narrow street of Totnes and the riverbank before catching the bus back to Paignton Railway Station. Tickets for the whole journey can be bought at Paignton Steam Railway Station and there is no time limit on how long you spend in each place but check the tide times before traveling. The journey (Called The Round Robin) can also be done the other way around.

When The Sun Sets
When the sun goes down there are many places to dine on food from around the world. Afterwards why not take a stroll around the picturesque harbour, see a show or have a drink at a cafe bar and just watch the world go by!
